What Does It Mean To Be Saved?

What is this "Saved" stuff anyway?

The Bible poses the question: "...What must I do to be saved?" in Acts 16:30. The answer: "...Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved..." in Acts 16:31.

Saved from What?

The Bible says "...justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him." in Romans 5:9, and "...the WRATH of God cometh on the children of disobedience".

Disobedience?

The Bible says in James 2:10, that by breaking one of God's commandments, your're guilty of breaking ALL of them. Romans 3:23 says "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God", Romans 5:12 says "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned". So if you don't think you've sinned yourself, at the very least you inherited the sin of Adam in the Garden of Eden. Since you've got sin on you, your scheduled for God's wrath and punishment: an eternity in Hell.

Okay, what should I do?

Pray. The Bible says in Romans 10:13 "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be SAVED". Pray to Jesus, the man who died, and took your punishment for you... Believe what he did on the cross was for you and be thankful for it. Romans 5:18 says "Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life".

There can be a punishment waiting for you, or a reward. The price has been paid, you just need to ask, and it WILL be applied to you as well. Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
